WHO WE ARE
Usawa League is a pan-African nonprofit initiative dedicated to empowering women and youth through the transformative power of sport. Rooted in the Swahili word “Usawa,” meaning equity, our organization champions equal access, representation, and opportunity on and off the field.
In a sports landscape where female athletes and young talents often go unseen, unsupported, or under-resourced, Usawa League steps in to change the narrative. We provide holistic support through programs that span skill development, digital visibility, mental wellness, mentorship, and career transition ensuring that every athlete, regardless of background, has the tools to succeed and lead.
More than a organization, Usawa is a movement , a growing platform where African athletes can rise, tell their stories, and shape their futures. Whether it’s a young girl dreaming of a sport career or a retired player ready to lead in new ways, Usawa is here to open doors and build a more inclusive future for sport in Africa.
WHAT WE DO
Mission
USAWA League uses sport as a catalyst for social development to empower women and youth across Africa. Through capacity building, mentorship, visibility, and community-based initiatives, we equip individuals with the skills, confidence, and opportunities needed to thrive in sport and beyond while advancing gender equity, well-being, and sustainable community impact.
Vision
We envision an inclusive African sports ecosystem where women and youth are visible, protected, and economically empowered, and where sport serves as a powerful tool for leadership, resilience, and social change. USAWA League strives to contribute to communities where talent is nurtured, voices are amplified, and equality is driven through action.
